New moon Saturday / Shanishchari Amavasya / शनिश्चरी अमावस्या

If new moon (अमावस्या) falls on Saturday, it is referred as New moon Saturday / Shanishchari Amavasya / शनिश्चरी अमावस्या. Based on the holy scriptures, there is a special importance of this day.

Remedies performed during this period affects more and quickly. Remediation of malefic planets in Kundali can be rectified or reduced as well. Following 5 remedies can be done on this day.

1. Donate

Several black objects can be donated. Black cloth, Black Urad lentil, black sesame seeds, black leather shoes. You can donate mustard oil, salt or any edible material. You can also fill an iron container with rice and donate them.

Whatever you decide to donate, donate based on your strength and based on what you can afford.
Keep in mind the following things
a. Donate it only on Saturday
b. Donation should be done to a needy person only

2. Offer these 7 objects to Lord Shani
i) Mustard oil
ii) Rice
iii) Black Urad lentil
iv) Black Sesame seeds
v) Flower (blue preferably)
vi) Black cloth
vii) Food made with mustard oil
Perform prayer / offering like this
a. Get up before sunrise and take shower etc
b. Pray in front of Lord Saturn statue made of black stone.
c. Chant Shani Mantra :- On Sham Shanesh Charaya namah (ऊँ शं शनैश्चराय नम:)
d. Chant atleast 108 times.
e. Offer mustard oil while chanting and light a mustard oil lamp while doing this.
f. Conclude your prayer requesting Lord Shani for prosperity and health and wealth.

3. Pray Peepal tree (Ficus religiosa) on Saturday
Praying peepal tree on regular basis rectifies malefic effects. Along with that prosperity, wealth, money, kids, peace is granted. According to Geeta, peepal is one form of Lord Krishna. Follow this approach to pray peepal on Saturday.
a. After taking shower etc, wear fresh and white cloths. Offer sandal wood power, rice, flower, and kesar mixed with ganga jal (Ganga water) to the roots of the tree. Light a mustard lamp. And recite following mantra while walking around the peepal tree.

मंत्र: आयु: प्रजां धनं धान्यं सौभाग्यं सर्वसम्पदम्।

देहि देव महावृक्ष त्वामहं शरणं गत:।।

विश्वाय विश्वेश्वराय विश्वसम्भवाय विश्वपतये गोविन्दाय नमो नम:।

Offer sweets to Lord Krishan. Light incense. Bring the pure ganga water offered to peepal, to home as well. And sprinkle this in your home. Doing this will purify your home's environment.

4. Recite 10 names of Lord Shani

One of the remedies besides praying, donating, fasting is reciting name of Lord Shani
Religiously reciting name eliminates faults in the natal chart.
Recite them like this
a. Take shower etc on the Saturday morning. Offer water and milk to Peepal tree. Sit near the tree and recite the 10 names as much as possible. All the 10 names have same weightage.
1. Konasth / कोणस्थ
2. Pingal / पिंगल
3. Babhru / बभ्रु
4. Krishna / कृष्ण
5. Rodrantak / रौद्रान्तक
6. Yama / यम
7. Sauri / सौरि
8. Shaneshchar / शनैश्चर
9. Manda / मन्द
10. Pippala shreya / पिप्पलाश्रय
